Mono is a Free implementation of Microsoft .NET and is portable not only across multiple operating systems, but also across many different architectures.  We will give an overview of the Mono project and its components, present the C# programming language and its newer features and motivate Mono as a good platform for building Linux applications.

We will also give a few short demonstrations using MonoDevelop, the Mono IDE, talk about the newest developments in the Mono community and answer all upcoming questions.
